Future Plans
- Plans are under way to open a vehicle repair Centre for Moneragla District.
- It has been planned to shift the present vehicle repair Centre at Badulla to a new location.
- It has been planned to establish an institution for training heavy vehicle operators affiliated to Provincial Director (Mechanical) Office.
- Establishment of a unit for construction work undertaken under the Advance Account.
- Establishment of a new unit for repairing computers.
Achievements, Merits and special Programe
- A model of a steam road roller was manufactured and displayed at the “Deyata Kirula” exhibition at its Uva Provincial Council Stall in 2009. The model was manufactured following the system of an old Road Roller which the department had and which had been manufactured by Messers Auing and Forter. Company in English. This was highly appreciated by the chief Minister of he Uva Province. This was also appreciated by the Independent Television Network telecasting the invention in its program called ATAPATTAMA. Thus our inventions has received wide publicity and people of various positions visit out institution to see the model and the old Road Roller.
- Under the theme “From hunting land to Farm land” with a view to divert the livelihood of primitive people in Dambana from hunting animals to cultivation of crops, the tank called Kiriwanagalkandura was completed in full, An electric fence has been erected around the area to protect the cultivation from wild elephants and we are rendering great service in regard to field work as well.
- The tank called “Maligatenna Wewa” which, according to the legend, had been constructed during the reign of King Kumaradasa was in a very unsatisfactory state. It was reconstructed making available pure water for the people living around it and for their cultivation purposes.
